Why appear in GATE 2022?

  • Qualifying GATE enables students for admission to various prestigious PG programmes in IITs/NITs and IISc. Not only that, but GATE scores also used by the PSUs for various engineering-related jobs.
  • Qualifying GATE also makes students eligible for different fellowship programme offered by renowned research centres across the country.
  • Renowned foreign universities such as Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), National University of Singapore (Singapore), Technical University of Munich (Germany), Technical University of Dresden (Germany) and Aachen University (Germany) accept the GATE Exam score is also helpful if students want to take admission in.
  • GATE score can be used to apply for prestigious jobs in PSUs, Central Government Organizations and in the Private Sector as well.
  • Qualifying GATE 2022 will enable students to join a state-level or a national-level university/college for pursuing higher studies. Such candidates are also entitled for a scholarship of Rs.12,400/- every month until the completion of the two-year course.

What’s new in GATE Exam 2022?

Notification for GATE 2022 is yet to be out. There are no official details available regarding the new changes introduced in the exam. However, candidates can check the new things for the GATE conducted last year below:

New Papers: Two new subjects have been introduced: Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering (combined) and Geomatics Engineering. The total number of subjects increased to 29 for GATE 2022.

More Centres: It is likely that there will be an increase in the number of GATE 2022 exam centres.

Relaxed Eligibility Criteria to be continued: GATE 2022 eligibility criteria will be the same as that of the last year which was relaxed from the minimum 10+2+4 (previous) to a minimum of 10+2+3 (ongoing). It enabled the students studying in the third year of their undergraduate course to appear for the entrance test. The GATE score is valid for the next three years from the date of the result declaration.

Appear for more than one paper: In another change last year, students applying for GATE could opt for two subject papers from the prescribed set of combinations. Earlier, the candidates could apply to appear for only one subject. The same will be continued this year as well.

New MSQ type questions : Multiple Select Questions are added in the questions pattern. All Test Papers of GATE 2022 will be objective type. The pattern of questions may include:

    • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ),
    • Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) and/or
    • Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions

There are over 650 Designated Centres available where students can appear for GATE Examination in India. For the last few years, the GATE exam has also been conducted for International Students from countries such as Bangladesh, Shri Lanka, Nepal, Singapore, Ethiopia, and United Arab Emirates (UAE). GATE 2022 results will be declared tentatively in the third week of March (after 40 days). Students who seek to get admission in postgraduate programmes and jobs in PSUs can take the GATE Exam.
